但馬地域は、兵庫県北部に位置し、豊岡市、養父市、朝来市、香美町、新温泉町からならなる広大なエリアを指します。その面積はなんと兵庫県の約4分の1。国指定の特別天然記念物・コウノトリの野生復帰の試みが進められているほか、オオサンショウウオやイヌワシ等も域内に生息。これらの希少な動物の生息が、但馬地域の豊かな自然を物語っています。
実は火山帯地域でもあり各地で温泉が湧出しているのはそのため。欧米からの観光客からも人気の城崎温泉をはじめ、但馬の小京都・出石城下町などなど、観てよし、お湯に浸かってよし、食べてよし、羽根を伸ばしてよしの、何拍子もそろった関西屈指の人気エリアです。

Tajima is the area of northern Hyogo prefecture. It consists of toyooka city, yabu city, asago city, kami town, and shinonsen town. It takes up 1/4 of the Hyogo land mass. It's an area teaming with wildlife, including the konotori bird designated as a national natural monument. Tajima is also filled with nature. The toyooka basin was formed long ago from volcanic activity. This also left behind many natural hot springs. The area has many great tourists spots, such as Kinosaki hot springs and Izushi, the little Kyoto. Let's check them out.

It's time! We will soon be starting our bus tour. So, fasten your seat belts and lean your seat back to relax while we take you on a tour of Tajima's hidden treasures.

竹田城は、山名宗全という室町時代の戦国武将が13年の月日を費やして築いたと言われる山城です。石垣の跡が完全な形で残っていることや、近年、CMや映画、ドラマの撮影にも使用されたことで一般的にも有名になりました。地元バス会社ならではの最寄のバス停で降車したらすぐに登山口。そこから徒歩約20分で想像を絶する絶景が目の前に広がります。
秋から冬にかけての早朝には朝露が発生することがあり、雲海に包まれた姿は、まさに天空の城。思わず「パルス！」と叫びたくなる衝動は抑えましょう。建物こそないけれど、日本の100名城に選ばれていること納得です。

Takeda castle was a marvel in its time, supposedly taking 13 years to be built. The base of the castle still remains in its original form. Recently, due to TV and drama features, the spot has been gaining popularity. The local bus can take you to the closest to the castle. From there, it's just a 20 minute walk to this surreal view. In fall and winter, the morning fog forms a sea of clouds making it appear as if the castle is floating. Even though the castle is no longer standing, Takeda ranks among the top 100 castles in Japan.

夏は涼しく、冬はたくさんの雪に恵まれる。ここは、鉢伏山の中腹に広がる標高800～900mの高原リゾート・ハチ高原。西日本有数のアウトドアエリアです。春から秋にかけては登山、ハイキングやパラグライダー、そして冬になったらスキー、スノーボードなど、1年を通じてダイナミックなアウトドアスポーツを楽しむことができます。
冬には、全長4kmにも及ぶゲレンデと絶景が待っている「ハチ北スキー場」、初心者でも安心の「ハチ高原スキー場」がオープン！長野県、新潟県など雪深いところに行かずとも、新大阪から約3時間で本格的なウィンタースポーツが楽しめるのはうれしい！

With cool summers and snowy winters, this mountain resort is located about 900 m in the heart of Hachibuse mountain. It is one of the few famous outdoor areas in Kansai. You can enjoy it in every season: hiking and paragliding from spring to fall, snowboarding and skiing in winter. For winter sports, there's a 4 km glande course with beautiful landscapes at Hachi and a beginners course at Hachikita. Enjoy winter sports just three hours away from Shin-Osaka.

何やら湯気が見えてきましたね。はい、次は、今からおよそ1150年前に慈覚大師によって発見されたと伝えられている古湯・湯村温泉です。
元湯は「荒湯」と呼ばれ98度の高温泉。高温の荒湯の溜まった湯壺を使って卵や野菜、芋をゆで、ホクホクしながら食べるという楽しみ方はこの温泉ならではでしょう。温泉の成分は弱アルカリ性で、湯上りはゆで卵のようにお肌がツルツルでツヤツヤ。
女性にはうれしい効果が期待できます。温泉の中心を流れる春来川沿いには天然かけ流しの「足湯」が常設されていて、いつでも、誰でも、温泉を気軽に満喫きます。「ふれあいの湯」とも呼ばれている足湯は、3か所用意されています。

Discovered about 1150 years ago, thus hot spring has a long history. The spring waters come out at 98°C at the source, called Arayu. Locals use the water to cook vegetables and eggs while enjoying the nice warm up at the onsen. The waters quality leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth, making it popular with women. There are also many popular footbaths located in the middle of town along the river. Anyone can use it anytime.

なんと、古くは「古事記」「日本書紀」にも登場する出石市は、一休さんでお馴染みの沢庵和尚や明治維新を推し進めた木戸孝允（桂小五郎）など、歴史的な人物とも深いつながりがあります。と堅い話はここまでにして、さあ、おいしいものはないかなと、街をゆけば、ありました！名物「出石皿そば」。信州上田藩の仙石氏と出石藩の松平氏とのお国替えがきっかけで、本格的なそば職人が流入。どうりでおいしいわけです。さらに注目なのは、そばを盛りつけた白い小皿。これは出石焼という伝統工芸品です。
上品な皿でいただくそばに思わず舌づつみを打ったと思ったら、そろそろ出発のお時間です。窓の外に見えるのは、日本最古の時計台「辰鼓楼」です。※この観光地のは直接は通りません。

Noted in the oldest religious text of Japan, this town is a town of history. It is connected to a lot of notable historical figures. But let's get to the real tourist attraction, food. Izushi is famous for its soba. Izushi soba is cold buckwheat noodles eaten off of small plates. The white plates are also a famous feature of Izushi, called Izushi yaki. This traditional art is well recognized and a great souvenir. But better hurry, we are off to our next stop soon. Don't miss the famous clock tower on your way out of town. *this is not a direct stop on our express bus route

赤ちゃんを運んでくる鳥として日本に古くから馴染みのある鳥、コウノトリ。でもご存知でしたでしょうか？実は、いまコウノトリは、ロシア東部や中国東部を含めた極東にたった2000羽あまりしか生息していない絶滅危惧種なのです。そのコウノトリを保護し、飼育し、野生にかえす取り組みを行っているのが、ここ、コウノトリの郷公園です。2005年にはいよいよ野生復帰を開始しました。園内の公開エリアでは、飼育コウノトリを観察できるだけでなく、里山の中をゆっくり散策することも。また、運が良ければ野外で生息・繁殖しているコウノトリに出会うこともできます。
2017年は酉年。この機会にぜひ、野生のコウノトリとのご対面を果たしに行ってみませんか？

Everyone knows babies come from the stork. Well in Japan the tradition is the same for the Oriental white stork. Maybe you didn't know that the white oriental stork is an endangered species with only 2000 in the wild in Russia and China. This park worked to protect and repopulate the area. The whole town works to make a safe environment for the birds. In 2005, the Konotori was reintroduced into the wild. At this park, not only can you see the birds raised in captivity, but also you can walk the grounds and see the ones in the wild if you're lucky.

多くの文豪たちからも愛された知れ関西の名湯・城崎温泉。
その歴史は軽く1300年を超えるというからびっくりです。柳が垂れるメインストリートは、この温泉街の〝廊下″。到着したらすぐに浴衣に着替えて下駄をはいて、外湯めぐりにでかけましょう。城崎温泉では色んな温泉を浴衣でめぐるのが正しい楽しみ方なのです。縁日のような街を歩いていると「ゆかたご意見番」という看板が。これは浴衣が着崩れたりした時に直してくれるお店。粋ですね。行く先々にある文学碑も何だか読んでみたくなる気分に。
文化に触れ、お湯を楽しんだら、さあ、お楽しみのお食事です。思う存分食べたら次に出発ですよ。

Kinosaki Onsen is loved especially by many Japanese writers throughout time. The town has its own long history of over 1300 years. With the beautiful willow lined streets as its hallways, this town is like one Japanese inn waiting to welcome you. When you arrive, change into your traditional yukata and geta and go on an onsen-hopping adventure. The best way to enjoy Kinosaki is to stroll the town in your traditional garb. If you need help with how to wear it, shops in town will give you a hand. You'll also get a chance to experience Japanese culture. But of course don't forget to try the incredible food. Once you've had your fill will be off to our next destination.
